"The local boozer down the road had your typical Salford characters. I got chatting to a fella during a game of pool and he let slip he'd made his living as a sign writer. He was well known in on Bury New Road 'cash and carrys' quarter. He was known as Monty back then. He gave all that up a decade ago but he spends a lot of his retirement adoring signs he see's on his travels. I told him he was about to come in handy. He tought me the rule of signwriting.
