"The local boozer down the road had your typical Salford characters. I got chatting to a fella during a game of pool and he let slip he'd made his living as a sign writer. He was well known in on Bury New Road 'cash and carrys' quarter. He was known as Monty back then. He gave all that up a decade ago but he spends a lot of his retirement adoring signs he see's on his travels. I told him he was about to come in handy. He tought me the rule of signwriting. He wasn't too sure how it was going to pan out when he saw me pick up a brush with my left hand."
